Canada PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Explained

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) lets Canadian provinces and territories nominate skilled workers who fit their local labour needs. A nomination is powerful — through Express Entry it adds 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing an invitation.

How to get nominated

You either apply directly to a province's stream, or you create an Express Entry profile and indicate interest in provinces; a province can then send a 'notification of interest' inviting you to apply for nomination. Streams target specific occupations, work experience, study, or job offers — and criteria change often.

Choosing a province

Provinces such as Ontario (OINP), British Columbia (BC PNP), Alberta (AAIP), Saskatchewan (SINP), and others run streams for in-demand occupations. You should intend to live in the nominating province. We match your occupation and profile to provinces actively nominating candidates like you.

Frequently asked questions

Does a PNP nomination guarantee PR?

A nomination doesn't guarantee PR, but it adds 600 CRS points (for Express Entry-aligned streams), which almost always leads to an invitation. The final PR decision rests with IRCC after your full application.

Can I move to another province after landing?

PR holders have mobility rights in Canada, but you should genuinely intend to settle in the nominating province when you apply. Misrepresenting intent can cause problems.

PNP or Express Entry — which should I try?

They aren't mutually exclusive. Enter the Express Entry pool and pursue a PNP in parallel; if your CRS is below recent cut-offs, a nomination is often the fastest route. See our Express Entry vs PNP guide.
